Hello!

Wow! There are a lot of people getting involved. This will be so much fun to see what others do. I live in a rural area so I don't have a lot of contact with other artists.

I am new at blogging and pretty new at journaling ( a project journal and an idea book are about it)!! I am so glad to see I am not alone in being new.

I am hoping to do a felt penny rug for my journal. I spent half my day looking for felt on-line ( I have a very slow land line; no high speed internet here yet).

I see others feel a providential hand in getting them here to the BJP. I feel that way too. Sometimes it just seems as if everything falls in line when you need it most. For one thing, I got a digital camera for Christmas and it will be perfect for posting my journal pages, won't it? That's what I mean about things happening with that silent hand pushing me along.

Now, I've got to get back to reading the rest of the posts and planning my project for the Project.
Happy beading everyone,

freebird

What's a felt penny rug?

A felt penny rug is an old-fashioned technique (probably to use up scraps of felted wool) of joining circles or other shapes together with blanket stitching. The circles or shapes could be layered and embroidered or otherwise embellished. I don't really know if these were used for rugs; they were certainly used as table toppers. If I can find a printed source or better description or basic picture I will post it on my blog: http://freebirdsings.blogspot.com/.

What a fun idea! Thanks for explaining what a felt penny rug is. I didn't know either.

When the time comes to post pictures, there will be many of us in the BJP with experience who can help you.
