August Bead Journal Project

Okay I finally got pictures done of my August Bead Journal project. It is my tribute to The Ohio State Fair. I had fun doing this one as orange is always a color that I enjoy working with. Plus I got to go vintage button shopping which is almost as exciting as going bead shopping! Close, but a second. Anyway, on to September. I already have an idea. I live in Columbus Ohio which is home town of the famous Ohio State Buckeyes and guess what September means to anyone from Ohio....BUCKEYE FOOTBALL!

Ah, yes -- remember those state fairs in Columbus very well. Grew up in Cleveland, left there in 1979 for New Mexico and what do I find on your August piece? A Chile Pepper!

This is a terrific page. Thanks for making me smile.

Just seeing the words "State Fair" bring back lovely memories. Your color choices are perfect, but then, I love reds and oranges, too. I also really like how you framed the face. Great page.

I'm a Wolverine, too, and went to the Michigan State Fair every year growing up in the Detroit area.

Oh it is a big gigantic carrot! My favorite. I started out doing beaded carrot dolls & got away from them for awhile...now the orange is calling me back.

WOLVERINES...I'm NOT going to comment on how you all did on your opening game...but everyone at the Horseshoe in C-town blasted that place down when they heard the score of your game. Sorry, but we are NUTZ here in Columbus when it comes to the Buckeyes.

As we Badgers say in the famous 5th quarter, WHEN YOU SAY WIS - CON - SIN, YOU'VE SAID IT ALL!

Go Bucky! (Sorry to see Michigan flailing so early... not really.)

Yes, it is time for Big 10, scratch that, Big 11 football!

Guess I should say something about your piece which is more important than even football...

It's inspiring - gotta love the fringe!

I love the piece, too. But as anyone knows who lives in a college football town, football is the only thing of importance for the few months. Stores close, traffic lights go one way, flags stream on cars, tailgating starts at the crack of dawn. You can hear the band practicing every day, and at 6 am the day of a game. All I have to do is open my living room window and hear the roar of the crowd to know how the game is going. Of course, while I'm listening to crazy fans, I'm working on my bead journal piece! Or, like this past Saturday, taking a class with the Bead Guild from Melanie Potter. Do I love rivoli's....

Well, gosh -- it's what comes of living in New Mexico for nearly 29 years! Sure looked like a red chile pepper to me. But pepper or carrot, it is wonderful.
