Poll

I put something about continuing on in my latest post and then came over to this blog to see a poll. Now, I don't mind starting right away or waiting a while. Here's why:

  1. If we wait, we have a chance to finish up any unfinished pages plus we can put them together which for me means making my pennycloth table topper and for some others, a book binding of some sort.
  2. If we start right away, we will be in the groove with it. It's always harder to restart than to keep going even if it's something we all love doing.

I just wanted to share what I was thinking about continuing the project in case it makes any difference as I really am torn between waiting and not waiting.

January BJP Done!

I have my January page done! That means I am only one month behind. I posted the picture on flickr and also on my blog. If you come to my blog you'll get the whole story but please don't mind the solid block of writing. I tried and tried but couldn't get blogger to leave a space between paragraphs tonight.

Timaree

Happy Leap Year Day!

And Aloha Friday!
Finally finished January & just started on February. You can check 'em out on my blog here.
I've got my idea for March, but won't start it until February is done.
And I can't believe we're 3/4 thru' the year! I still have to mount these & add the danglies & the words & ....! Yikes! Better get beading!
Blessings,
CC
In case you have been wondering what a tassel is all about, I have one made, only 9 more to go and one is attached to my Volume 1 book. You can see it here.

February Barrette

Hi Everyone,
I have really enjoyed reading two books by Pearl S. Buck: The Good Earth and My Several Worlds. These books were the inspiration for February's barrette.

My February page is done!

I wanted to do January's Wolf Moon for my February page. Even though it's confusing sometimes, I like doing last month's moon this month, so that I have a better feel for how it went! I decided to bead just the eyes, emerging from a dark night. You can see it here.

February done

I am done with February & you can see it here

Ellen aka KiwiEllen

My March Piece

It just wouldn't wait for March...probably got a good shot of energy from robin and thoms visit too....it's here and it's one of my favorites...I sure hope we can keep this going...I don't think I could stand the withdrawal pains!

March, April, May... Then What???????

Some of you have been making comments about not wanting this to end. So now everyone gets a chance to vote about whether or not you'd like to continue the BJP for another year. The poll is at the top left of our page, where it will remain active for a month.

Please vote only ONE time. If you'd like to explain your vote or offer other options, please either write a post or comment on this one.

With one-quarter of the year's work still ahead of us, we have a little time to think about the committment and if we want to do it again. With three-quarters of the year's work behind us, I can say that without a doubt, it's one of the most satisfying experiences of my life... both personal benefits from doing my own pages and countless benefits and inspirations from participating in the group! Thanks to each and every one of you for your contributions!

Blessings, Robin A.

a couple days ahead...

Ok, done with March, here. On a sad note, however, we are almost through the year! We are all going to be suffering withdrawals, I fear.
Everyone's work has seemed to get more incredible as we go along, I know i have learned a lot, both beady-wise as well as about me... which I believe was one of the goals... so Robin, you have succeeded with at least one person! Thank you again...

Just Checking In

G'Day All,
Feels like ages since I last gave an update. Feb started off fantastic, my page was going wonderfully and life was good, but was then struck down with the worst toothache ever! The dentist visit I'd been putting off for sometime was inevitable, but naturally for me there were complications (what else?!)Long story short, I'm falling behind again and my face has, luckily, receded from a golf ball size swelling to a gum ball size swelling. I'm on so many anti-biotics I'm rattling!
But on the upside we have had the wettest Feb in years and it's still raining, me thinks the drought has broken. With only one day of the month to go I just know that I'll not be finished inside the month but I'll be there at the finish.
Hope you are all in good health, I fighting back
Cheers

So far behind

I am so far behind I think I am in front.
However, I have been busy beading and putting all the beaded embroidery techniques you guys inspire me to try and do to work. I also got really brave and opened an Etsy shop
I don't know how that will go, that was scary for me. Anyway I did post my lastest piece of work on my blog today. Now off to work on my BJP before the month ends.
Hugs to all,
Sunni

I'm joining the people finished with February and the teaser for March. If you'd like to see what is done for these two months go here.

There are only March, April and May left. It doesn't seem possible. I hope we get to display them somewhere! Wouldn't that be cool!

It's a Three-Fer!

A bout of the flu has enabled me to wrap up three months at once. I'm still a behinder, but my behind is getting smaller. (Ok, so it's not, really, but you know what I mean.)

My October, November and December pages can be found at:

And I have an idea for January!!

January update

Hi all! Slowly but surely I'm starting to catch up. You can see what I've done so far with January here.
This particular month has been a real lesson in creating artwork with a very different medium than paint!!! But I'm enjoying it...and pretty soon hope to be on to February. Already moodling on ideas for March!
So happy Aloha Friday to all!

FYI

There have been several posts to the QuiltArt list this week about using Fireline for beading on fabric pieces that may be ironed. The consensus is that it will melt if it comes in contact with direct or even indirect heat (using teflon press cloth). I don't use Fireline, but I know some of you have mentioned it as an alternative to beading thread so I thought I would pass along the caution.

First Post

Can you believe it? This is my first group post! Yes I am a little shy!
I read all the messages and have been improving my computer skills (and my confidence) since I started blogging and have finally figured out how to post my photos to flicker...yippee!
I am kicking myself over my size choice for this project...I thought 8 1/2" x 11" would be good! Duh! These pieces are taking me forever from start to finish, but I am enjoying it so much that I am keeping at it.
You can now view my first 4 BJP pieces on our group flicker site!
Or you can read all the details about the growth of each piece at my BJP blog.
I can't believe I am posting to the group! Thanks to each and every one of you for the inspiration and participation in this great project. Thanks especially to Robin for all the encouragement and enthusiasm. I'm so excited to be a (quiet) part of this group!

Getting There

Like Sue in western Washington I am a bit "further along" on my January page. I keep getting distracted by all the camaraderie I find here in blogland so I'm not fretting too much over it. You can see what I've got done here.

A Little Further Along...

I've made some more progress on my journal quilt for January. You can see pictures here. All it needs now is backing and binding and then I'll only be one quilt behind!

I've got some more done on my page, posted here.

Catching Up! Whew!

I've been enjoying beading so much this week of vacation from school for winter break!  I've managed to finish my October AND December pages.  It's been a real journey!  Check out my blog here!  So now I just have February and I am caught up!

Computer woes & further behind....

However I look at it I found I am further behind with my beaded journal, but I did come up with an idea, I am going with smaller squares & each day as the weather becomes more springy I will be able to sit outside & do just that BEAD!!!! yeah.

My compter the past few months has been acting up & finally now we donot have one that will connect any longer to the internet, so I am for now using my friend Kate's laptop. We have yet to decide if we will put money into a new motherboard, or new laptop. Our neighbor is helping us decide.

Who all here has a laptop? Do you prefer them over a tower?

You can check out my latest post on my blog at http://beads4jody.blogspot.com/

Have a beautiful day & wishing lots of creativity.

Another February Finished

This one has gone so smoothly and been full of great days....but only three more to do!

February Page

My February page is finally completed. It was a lesson in patience. It's here. I think it's my favorite page so far.

Thom's Bead Embellished Quilts - 3 Months of BJP

Been wanting to get these pictures posted for quite a while... finally did it. Go here to see July, November and December BJP by my brother, Thom. I believe they're all clickable. Enjoy!

If you haven't already seen them, I posted my Nov page here, Dec page here and Jan page here.

I've been loving everybody's work. Thanks sooooo much for posting your pictures!

Nary a Bead in Sight

Although I have yet to add a single bead to my February page I am really pleased with how it is coming along. If you would like to see how it looks please visit my BJP blog.

For those who love a bit of bling I have started to work on a necklace for the Bead Dreams contest that is going to have lots of crystal bling to it. Check it out here.

Progress Report for February's Page

I have posted pictures and my thought process for February's journal quilt on my blog. It's the bottom half of the post dated 17 February. I also have an idea about how to bring January's quilt to completion but I'm keeping that a secret for the time being!

Sue in western Washington

Feb is completed!

I'm ahead of schedule. I have Feb done before Feb is over. A first for me. I wasn't sure what to do as a theme for my Feb project. I didn't want to do Valentine's Day as we really don't DO Valentine's Day here in my house. I expect chocolates ALL THE TIME! Anyway, a friend told me she was doing Mardi Gras, but I didn't want to copy. Then I thought anniversary as this is our 31st. Then when I was working on the Pink Artist project for Monica, I just got inspired to take this theme to my BJP. So my piece is dedicated to my very first friend Internet friend who died cancer 10 years ago. Her name was Marlene. Her sister sent me a Scottie piece which Marlene picked out for me which I keep always! It's not the most expensive piece, nor is it the prettiest, but for me it is special.

Another month done

Now that I am back in the groove it feels like I have been flying through the pages. It probably has more to do with the fact that this last weekend here in Minnesota we were having -34 wind chill temperatures. The only thing to do that makes sense is to stay in, watch movies and bead!
See my progress here.

Back in Circulation

First I would like to say a big thank you to all of the people who sent their best wishes and prayers for us While Wayne was off in Iraq. After 6 weeks of visiting family over the holidays I got back to Maryland on January 2nd and Wayne got back from Iraq on the 5th. It is great to have him home.

It is really funny that the only thing in my life that isn't behind is my Bead Journal Project. Does that say something about my priorities???

I have finally updated my BJP blog and you can find my November, December and January pages on their now as well as a picture of the first 8 pages displayed.

I am working on February as well and will try to get a progress report on it up soon.

If you want to know what has been going on in my life besides this visit my AKP Blog and Artistic Kreations and Passions website which I have also updated.

Thanks for helping with that

Thanks KV, Freebird and Robin for helping me with that.

For some reason the post I added today of my January Night Sky Bag would not show up for everyone. Some people could see it and others couldn't.

BJP Images now on-line

Hi BJPers,

I've unfortunately been out of the BJP loop for several months. But I am still busily beading away. I haven't created a blog, but I do have a new Web site: www.lisabinkley.com that has images of my June - Sept. BJP pages. You can see them in the "small art quilts & embroideries" gallery of my site. They're the last two images on the first page and the two on the second page. They're all based on the same cottonwood leaf form mounted on a 9" x 11" fabric panel. They're in chronological order on the site. My pages for Oct. - Feb. (and ideas for March -May) are all underway, and I'll post images of those as soon as they're finished.

It's fun to be getting back into reading posts and looking at all the amazing work being created!
The first six months in a book! You can see pictures and what I thought of the experience - at least the printable parts - at my blog. Or on the Flicker site.

January is done

Well after months of not being able to decide on how to do my bags the idea came to me as I was getting out of bed one morning about 2 weeks ago. I started it right after my coffee. I worked on it most of that day and then had to set it aside for life.
But yesterday I finished it and it is on my blog now.
Sorry I am so far behind you all, but I have big plans of catching up.
Hugs to All,
Sunni

Happy Aloha Friday to all!

January finished!

I started and finished my January page in three days! What a surprise that was for me, but it designed itself! I just got out the beads and they seemed to jump onto the page. I had decided that I was too "stifled" by the literal-ness of my first six flower pages, so was going to do something different for the last half. I had decided to use something besides a photograph for my base, but then, this approach hit me! I am pleased! See my original flower and my finished January page here.

Back on line!

After several months of being away (no internet) I am back and posting again. I have tried to keep up with all of your posts but I am a little behind. I am also behind on my months, other than February's piece, Passion.

I am glad to be back amongst you again.

My very rough beginnings for this page are posted here. I'm looking forward to this one - with any kind of luck I should actually be caught up by the end of the month!!

Subject of Portrait Revealed!

Thanks to everyone who commented on my January BJP, which is an abstract portrait of a person! (If you haven't yet commented and want to do so before seeing who the person is, go here.)

Today's post, here, reveals who this mystery person is!

Thanks For The Help!

It sure is great to have this group to turn to for helpful advice. Nearly everyone suggested the same thing, so that's what I did (added more beads ~ of course)! I've posted a new picture on my blog if you want to have a look. The journal quilt is not complete yet but I have to put it aside to work on a commission quilt.

I'm also pleased to report that I was able to rework a discarded effort on an earlier journal quilt so I think I have a base for my February journal page. We shall see...!

Button Help

Timaree left a comment on my blog and asked how I was able to add the BJP button. Well that is a good question, it was just dumb luck. I don't know a lot about how it works, but you must access (edit) the layout of your blog and then paste the code to the "Html" tab. I then copied and pasted the button to the blog layout tab where I wanted it to appear on the page. From there I viewed my blog and the button was there and it took me to the BJP Blog when I clicked on it. That is truly 10% knowledge and 90% luck.

I've finally rid myself of a few time-eaters and should be caught up very soon. That's the plan, at any rate.

Caught Up and Moving Forward

I have posted pictures of my October, December and January pages on my blog. It feels good to be caught up and to be even with the board again. BJP Button HTML

I was able to get this from Grace's blog for the button:

You'll have to retype it because the above image is a jpg. If you click on it first, you'll be taken to another page with just the text on a white background and it will be easier to read.

Thanks Grace!

On a side note, now that it's getting into tax season, I haven't had any time to work on my project. I do still have the goal of getting it done on time, though, so once I get my new assistant trained, I plan to get back into it.

December Done

OK, you can see my december page here. For me, Xmas should be in Australia where it is warm, not in cold Chicago! I have not quite decided if I'm going to frame this piece like I have others but as I have decided that these will all be sewn into a fabric journal, I'm thinking that might be enough of a frame. I will have to see. Of course, I need a better picture as the blue fabric is much brighter than this. I did try beading clouds but it really wasn't working so I removed them.

Help for the BJP Button

I think I have finally figured out how to help anyone who wants to put the BJP button on their blog. However, that said, my directions are only for those of you on Blogger. Whenever anyone tries to write an html code in a post, Blogger automatically turns that code into the button! So, I am going to leave the html code which will make your BJP button active in the comment section at the end of this post.

When you copy the html code for the button go to Layout, Add a Page Element, select HTML/Java Script, add to blog, paste the button html script in the Content box, Save Changes, and you "should" have an active BJP button appear on your blog.

Hope this works! I will close this post and open the comments with the html code now.

January page complete

Here's my page for last month. Have blogged about it here.

Am I the only one who feels the process is getting more intense and true to itself with each passing month? I can't believe I almost dropped out in the second month. This project has become part of each month's backbone for me and I'm starting to have some separation anxiety about the fact that it's over in May ...

Help needed with January!

***
bead embroidery by Robin Atkins, bead journal project, detail January page
I've posted my January BJP page here. Above is a detail, a little slice of it.

It's an abstract portrait. If you have a moment or two, I'd very much appreciate your help... I'd like to hear your thoughts about it... what have I communicated to you with my work about the subject of this portrait???

Thanks so much! Robin A.

Flicker & blog question

Well, I finally figured out how to put pictures in the Flicker account. I'm pretty computer challenged & am so proud because I did this all by myself without asking my husband for help. I do have a question for those who blog alot. I have our Bead Journal Button on my blog account, but want to make it a link. How can I do that on Layout page? I don't see a place to link it. I might have done it wrong by just downloading the picture to my computer & then reloading just the picture to my account. That might be why I can't seem to get it to link. Any thoughts or helpful hints???
