Siblings and Spacing

Hi everyone. No, I am not talking about the spacing of children! I am wondering about two different things.

First, due to the page I just finished I was asked by Robing if my siblings had seen the page. This brought up something that makes me wonder a lot. I seem to have to push my family to drop by my blog and see what I have done and am doing. My siblings and kids all like what I do and want me to make stuff for them but they don't seem to care about taking the time to see what I'm up to unless I remind them a lot and push for comments from them. Do any of you experience this? Am I expecting too much from them?

And secondly, I have trouble getting spaces between paragraphs. I can't seem to indent the paragraphs either. Others are getting those spaces I see, and I think they make longer entries easier to read. So any help there would be appreciated too.

Wouldn't you know it, the spaces showed up this time. But, if you look at my blog you'll see they didn't show up on my long entry there. Huh??

I sent my family the link to my blog so they would know what I am up to. Of course none of them have left comments, but they would not have been as wise as the ones the community here has left.

I think every family member is different, especially in regard to their level of comfort and expertise in dealing with the internet and blogland. Also, it's second nature for some people to have checking e-mail and commenting as part of their daily routine, but this is certainly not the case for everyone.

And if it makes you feel better, no one in my family ever looks at my blog and it's always been a bit of mystery to me too :)

The only time my husband looked at my blog was when he was home and I was working on it. As far as I know he hasn't attempted to since I got the new quicker easier blog.

The only family I know for sure checks my blog is Wayne's mother and although she seldom comments to the blog (only once). She does e-mail me comments and questions. I have had some friends mention that they check it periodially but not sure how often.

Space between paragraphs I can answer I usually get them fine if I hit return twice at the end of a paragraph. I haven't figured out how to indent, my guess is that it requires knowing some HTML tag and I am not near that savy.

You know I check my blog out on the preview before I post it too make sure the pictures are where I want them & that my spaces are right where they should be. It takes a bit of fiddling to get it right sometimes though..

It seems this blogging is not an exact science yet.. HTH

I have the link to my blog at the bottom of my email, so anyone who chooses can read it, but unless you join the blogger site I don't think you can make comments directly to your posts.

I too struggle with some of the layout issues, maybe with time, say another 10 months, we'll have figured it all out!

a2susan, I know you can get comments from anyone; I found that out when I pushed my daughter a lot to visit and she said she couldn't leave a comment. Go to the set up area and change it to allow anyone.

Thanks everyone. It seems we are pretty much in the same boat. I guess you have to be an artist to understand we could use that support our families could give. At least I know I am not unusual. And like I said, I know they like what I make as they ask me to make them stuff.

I never had a relative leave a comment on my blog. I don't expect them to either, and I don't worry about it. (Sometimes a little sad, but where will that get me?) I am sowing my seeds, may they land and inspire those they are suppose to.

My family and friends have no interest in my beading/quilting/blogging. One of my sisters asked about my blog once and I sent her the address - she sent me back the grammatical corrections!

I also have this experience--if my family reads my blog, they rarely comment (except one of my daughters--who is quite crafty). And it is not because they are not able to--they are all computer savvy. I do find this disappointing. On the other hand, I have a few regular readers--who always comment--who I have never met and live far away from me...
