Updating Life

I have updated both of my blogs.
Life has been beyond strange in the last couple of months. My Husband is back in Iraq for 2-3 months along with other drama. My Life is Here.

I have started working on my BJP for 2008-9. I haven't started working on the monthly blocks but since mine is going to include so much more than the monthly blocks I need a head start. The whole thing is going to be a quilt/mixed media collage with painted and beaded blocks. The entire piece is going to be a sort of self-portrait of things that are sacred, important, or symbolic of who I am. If you want to check out my creative journey go here.

I am so proud of all of us, those who have completed their pieces and all of those who are playing catch-up. It is truly amazing to see all of the amazing pieces that have come out of this year. I know that I am not the only one who feels they have made huge growth as artists. I want to thank all of you for everything that you have put into making this an incredible year for me. Angie

Stuck!

I have my April page ready to go and find I just can't seem to start it. I don't know why. I've been challenged by some of my pages but they haven't come to a dead stop before. What a time to hit the wall. I'm posting here to tell you I really want to finish my pages. I thought I'd have them done by now. I am hoping to put a few beads on my page today hoping that writing here will give me a push now that you all know I haven't been doing anything. Sheesh. I want to start next years pages and haven't finished this years. Is that what my problem is? I hope not.

Final Report

Tomorrow is May 31 (where I live anyway!). I checked back through Robin's administrative posts and discovered that tomorrow is the date by which we were supposed to have had all of our bead journal 'pages' completed.

Well.

Not happenin'. At least not in the Magpie's Nest. :- (

I have three pages to finish before my set of 12 will be complete. Two are pieced and awaiting embellishment. One is nearly pieced and then will need to be embellished. {sigh} And it all started out so well too!

I have every intention of completing the final three pieces. My goal is the end of June (yes, this year!). I also intend to submit my 12 beaded journal quilts to the BJP website. I think it will be educational for me to see them all in one place, and a place that is not in my own home.

This has been a good experience. I've grown as an artist and a blogger and I've learned a lot about myself. I will not be participating in the next BJP however. I want to take some of what I've learned and see where else it can take me. That shows you just how valuable this experience has been: I'm ready to move on to other endeavors... things I wasn't ready or able to undertake a year ago. So kudos to you, Robin, for instigating this whole project in the first place! And thank you to everyone who participated even a little bit. I was inspired and impressed by your work more often than you know :- )

OMG - She's been thinking.......

G'day Everyone,
Well I've finally caught up, finished Feb, March and April in record time - for me!
Starting on May tomorrow, sorry but I do have a real job to go to tonight.
August is still sitting waiting, like a good child overlooked for the louder attention seekers.
I've been thinking (stop laughing!) and have come up with a theme for the 2008 BJP.
Hope it works out. I say that as I recall I had a theme for this years but it dosn't seem to have worked out that way. Anyways all the above are posted on Flickr and on my blog - which is rather new - http://sisterfour.blogspot.com/

Poll - Undecided

I am so far behind, that it seems inappropriate to try and jam all the pages into the end. So I am willing to join in another year. Journaling is not something I have done much of in print or other forms, this seems to be part of the stumbling block for me.

But after saying that, a strong feeling came over me to not participate. That I should stay committed to finding my artistic voice and not pressure myself to find it through a monthly bead journal page. Sounds contrary to me.....

Thanks for sharing all of your beautiful work and a special thanks to Robin for inspiring us all!

A Little Further Along...

I've made some more progress on my journal quilt for January. You can see pictures here. All it needs now is backing and binding and then I'll only be one quilt behind!

Progress Report for February's Page

I have posted pictures and my thought process for February's journal quilt on my blog. It's the bottom half of the post dated 17 February. I also have an idea about how to bring January's quilt to completion but I'm keeping that a secret for the time being!

Button Help

Timaree left a comment on my blog and asked how I was able to add the BJP button. Well that is a good question, it was just dumb luck. I don't know a lot about how it works, but you must access (edit) the layout of your blog and then paste the code to the "Html" tab. I then copied and pasted the button to the blog layout tab where I wanted it to appear on the page. From there I viewed my blog and the button was there and it took me to the BJP Blog when I clicked on it. That is truly 10% knowledge and 90% luck.

Caught Up and Moving Forward

I have posted pictures of my October, December and January pages on my blog. It feels good to be caught up and to be even with the board again. I have started on my February page and plan to keep up on my work. ( didn't we all say that 8 months ago..... :>} ) Thanks for all the support and encouragement when I fell so far behind, you are all the greatest.

January Progress Report

I did, in fact, finish my December journal quilt that I mentioned in a post here yesterday. Yay! Now I would like to give you the opportunity to check out what I have done so far on my January journal quilt. For a rather detailed accounting click here. What I'm going to do for February remains up in the air...

November and December on my blog

Hello dear beaders!

It's been a while since I posted (miserable excuses include writing my new book, time with Mom in Minnesota, holiday house-guests), but yesterday I spent the whole glorious day reading every post to this blog since mid-Dec. and following all the links to your blogs where my spirits were much revived and lifted by your beautiful art!!!! After six hours of catching up, I got busy on my own blog where you can see:

November BJP - here

December BJP - here

Tomorrow I will post January. The next day I'll post pictures of Thom's (my brother) recent BJP pieces. Guess it must be true... when it rains it pours.

We're two-thirds into it now. If we're on schedule, we have eight journal pages completed. It's clear that the behinders are busy catching up, their strong comittment evidently nudging them along. Excellent! It is my hope that of the original 242 members we will have at least 100 who complete all twelve journal pages. Wouldn't that be fabulous!!!!!

Underway!

I have finally started on November and really plan to speed way up now that the holidays are over. Who knows, maybe I'll finish this page and start both December and January by weeks end! I know what I want to do for them and November is going pretty fast. I'm a tortoise trying to be a hare!

December BJP

I managed to finish my December page, it's a bit more simple, but I like the simplicity of it. Happy Holidays, and best of wishes for the New Year to you all!
Here's the link to my page.
Cheers,

Please vote!

I've been writing and beading samples for my new bead embroidery book! I'm stuck about the title, so have put a poll on my blog. It will be at the top of the side bar until New Year's Day. Please help me decide by voting!

In the meantime, I've joined the behinders... Christmas, BJP, commenting on all of your wonderful work, housekeeping... EVERYTHING is on the back burner while this book is being born. Please forgive me... I WILL catch up as soon as I can.

May your Christmas holidays be filled with the blessings of love, family and friendship! Love, Robin A.
