I Broke out the Champange at 9:20am Sydney Time

I completed my August piece at 9:20am Sydney time this morning and Yes I really did break out the champange, I had a little bottle put adise for this ocassion. It went down really well!
August is the page I struggled with, I have two unfinished pages for August,
which will now go into the BJP 2008.
I love this pendant and I finally decided that as I don’t wear necklaces and only make them on request, I’d use it as a center piece in my August page.
The song ‘I never Promised you a Rose Garden ‘went through my mind and thought
it was apt as the August deadline has long past, it’s now May 2008!
And this is definatey NOT a Rose Garden.
So I'm off work today and am going to continue my celebrations. This has been a great year for me having made a lot of friends here and doing something I really love.
Raising a glass to you all and a special toast to Robin!
Cheers

OMG - She's been thinking.......

G'day Everyone,
Well I've finally caught up, finished Feb, March and April in record time - for me!
Starting on May tomorrow, sorry but I do have a real job to go to tonight.
August is still sitting waiting, like a good child overlooked for the louder attention seekers.
I've been thinking (stop laughing!) and have come up with a theme for the 2008 BJP.
Hope it works out. I say that as I recall I had a theme for this years but it dosn't seem to have worked out that way. Anyways all the above are posted on Flickr and on my blog - which is rather new - http://sisterfour.blogspot.com/

Only kidding it's just a catchy headline to go with my January page which is now up on
Flickr. Off to February now

Merry Christmas

I send warmest wishes to everyone from Downunder, hope those of you in the colder climates don't freeze over the holidays, and for us in warmer climates, lets hope we have a great sunny day on the 25th.
My December page is now on Flickr for your perusal, I didn't put the month on this one as I think the month will be rather obvious.
Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all
Merry Christmas

Way behind

Not done much beading recently but I haven't given up. Just got a lot of work on my hands at the moment but after the New Year should get back in the flow of things.

Just looked at the Flickr page and there is lots of exciting pages going up, can't wait to everyone's all compiled in the Spring.

Flickr

Just a couple of points about Flickr:

  1. Add a tag "BJP" on all your uploads (Tags are like keywords or labels that you add to a photo to make it easier to find later.). If someone clicks on that tag, all your bead journal photos will be grouped together. If you have already uploaded your photos, there is a tag column at the side where you can add tags.
  2. When you upload your pics try to use the largest pixel size you can. I generally use 1600, I have noticed that some pictures are very small and just don't do your work justice.
  3. Flickr is not a photo storage site. If you want to keep the original size of your photograph, back it up on a CDR or an external hard drive.
  4. I am working on a Wordpress blog where I am putting each person's work grouped together on a page. This was in response to Robin's question on the Flickr group discussion page:

'The pictures seem to be ordered according to when they were added to the site. Does anybody know if it is possible to set the order alphabetically rather than by date added? If they were alphabetical by artist, then we could continue to notice how each of us is developing a unique voice.'

I have informed Robin of this page and she seemed keen on the idea. I am now asking the group if that is OK. Thus far I have only used the Flickr pages, by copying and pasting. Its that basic but it is good to see all of one person's work grouped together on one page. If you don't post to Flickr but would like to have a page on this Wordpress group, please send me your attachments via email. I have broadband so large files will be ok.

A Month of Sundae's

G'Day Everyone,
I have finished my October page and here is a teaser shot, the full pic is on our Flickr site. No I haven't forgotten August and have been working on it along with this one but it's still not ready. I have a two week vacation coming up in November, four more work days and counting! Have every single day of the fortnight planned. Beading, beading, a concert - A tribute to Lennon and McCartney - and of course a 'girls night out'and then more beading.
Cheers Nospoj
PS Happy Halloween to all who celebrate it - BOO!

Update BJP Flickr + Help!

I know... all this computer stuff can take a lot of time... But just now I visited our BJP Flickr site, and had a fabulous time slurping up all that luscious BJP beadwork. OMG!!!! It's soooooooo fabulous!

Five months into the project, and some have already posted pictures of all 5 of their pages. When you click on any one of them, it takes you to their Flickr home page which shows all of their posted work so far. Pick a few you like and try it... Awesome!!!

And, while I'm here, may I encourage each of you to take a few moments to update your Flickr page (if you're already there) or join the group and add your photos (if you're new to it).

HELP!!!! Would someone please write a brief post about how to get started with Flickr and how to put images on our BJP Flickr group site???? Please!
OK, I admit it... I'm behind too... I haven't posted August on Flickr, and I haven't posted Sept. on either my blog or Flickr. Yes, it's on the list....

Have You Met Flickr Yet?

I finally got to the library where I could get on their hi-speed internet. I got to see the slideshow of all the pictures everyone has loaded onto the group page at Flickr. It's wonderful! If you haven't seen it yet, go. And even though what is there is fantastic, there are only 48 members signed up to put their pictures up. When more of you get your photos on the site it will be absolutely marvelous. Have I used enough adjectives to whet your appetite yet? I hope so. You will be glad you went.

Spring has sprung Downunder!

G'Day Beaders,
I've been very busy this past month. After making the big decision to sidestep August I'm pleased to announce that my September page is finished and posted on the Flickr site.
It's Springtime here but feels like mid summer already. Today here is 30 Degrees Celsius, which is 86 Degrees Fahrenheit yep very hot!
I've spent the day setting up the rest of my pages ready to be beaded and also done a bit more to August but it still has a way to go. Will attempt to finish it alongside October.
Sorry to see that some of us have dropped out but nice to be able to Welcome the brave souls that have stepped up to replace them.
I'd like to be able to see all the completed pages on Flickr as I just don't have the time to jump round the net visiting all the blogs (hint! Hint!)
Talk again soon

A Start to September

Well, I finally figured out how to post my photos to the Flickr page. Yay! I've also started my September page, entitled "Goddess of the Harvest". Well, that's the title so far. Let's see how she evolves. You may see the start here. And now a whole evening free for beading!

Progress Report

I have finally finished my July journal page (yes, July). August is well under way. You can see both of them here. I have also added my journal quilts to date to the BJP page on flickr.

My intention is to finish August's page before I begin the one for September, but you know how that goes! At least I have an idea this time of what I'm going to do...

Flickr question

I just have a question and I know there is a simple answer. When I add my pix to the BJP Flickr page, how come there's an X by that picture? Am I not doing something right?
And I just want to add that I am blown away by all the talent I am seeing! Absolutely fabulous!

July Finished at last!

Well, just in time for August to finish I have completed July! To see it either go to the flickr page or my blog. Feel free to comment in either place.

One of the things I mention on my blog is moving into a new space and the feeling that it is alien. I have now had my own space for several weeks and gradually it is beginning to feel comfortable but I really have to drag my heels behind me to get there. If you have managed to get your own space to create in, how did you response to such unadulterated freedom and space?

Thank you for all the people who have contributed to the flickr group as Robin says, it is great to see all the work side by side and recognising each individual style. Like the blogs, you can still comment on the work.

Flickr group

I have taken the liberty to create a new flickr group which will be for the sole purpose of posting photo of your work. I realised I was spending a lot of my time, jumping from one blog to another and then getting caught up in the blog discourse. When it becomes 50 blogs to read, I lose a good part of my day. Also some of us don't actually have website or blog, so showing your work here might be easier.

To join simply go to the 2007 Bead Journal flickr group, Don't forget to title your work and the month it pertains to.
