Christy H Finished and Framed Her 12 Pieces!

Christy H, bead journal project, bead embroidery, detail
Actually, Christy finished her BJP pieces for this year quite a while ago and is now working on the current year's BJP. Finally, I got around to photographing her last four pieces and put them on my blog, here.

Christy and I worked together to prepare her 12 pieces for framing. Thinking our process might be useful to others in the BJP, I wrote a tutorial about how to do it. It's the second half of the post (here.)

Great work, Christy!!!!! Thanks for allowing me to share it with the group!

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Hi all,
Morwyn, I'm excited to see that your BJP '07 piece will be in the Beaded Book exhibition. Congratulations! Our group from two years ago will be well represented. I've got a new (post BJP) piece that is also in the show. It's called "Metaphorically Speaking" and it's a beaded cigar box inspired by Joseph Campbell's "The Power of Myth" (and Mary Oliver's book of poetry "House of Light"). I wish I could see the show in person but will look forward to seeing it in print in the June/July issue of Beadwork. Are there other BJP'ers in the show?

December is finally finished

Hi all,

I took one month away to bead a pair of ballet slippers for an exhibition. Now, I'm proud to say that I finished my December BJP and have started my January BJP. I hope to catch up before the month of March. In the mean time, here is my Dec. page.

Edges

For those of you still keeping tabs on what is happeneding with the 2007 BJP, take a look here.
I have finished the edges and can start adding the grommets.

The Beaded Book Competition

Hey, guys - don't know if anyone still stops in here - but I wanted to share an update concerning my beaded journal. I entered it in Beadwork's Beaded Book Competition and I just got the news that it's been selected as a finalist! Now I just have to deal with the trauma of sending off to a bunch of strangers for a few months (insert deep breath here).

Many, many thanks to all the 07-08 BJP gang and especially Robin, who shoved us all down this rabbit hole in the first place., encouraging us to put beads to cloth, expressing ourselves in ways both familiar and strange, stretching our creativity and learning so much together and as individuals. The experience remains one of the richest in rewards - both personal and professional - I've ever known.
However this turns out in the end, I'm already a winner.
